It’s cold outside, so this is the indoor season. The indoor season runs from October until March, and consists of:
- Fortnightly sessions at Stanley Deason Leisure Centre in Brighton: Every other Sunday between October and March (except Chrstmas day), from 10:30 till 13:30. We keep the warmup and drills to a minimum and jump straight into games as soon as possible. Indoor softball follows most of the rules of standard softball, but it is much quicker and… you just need to try it to appreciate how much fun it is. Afterwards we sometimes retire to a pub nearby for a drink or two and maybe some Sunday roast. This is the perfect chance for you to just turn up and start playing, whether you are complete rookie or a seasoned pro. Check the calendar and get in touch to come and give it a go! (Cost per 3-hour session: £6 (£5 unwaged). This pays for the hall hire and equipment.)
- Occasional trips to play in the London Indoor League: Like our Brighton indoor, but very competitive. We go over there and teach those big city types a lesson or two about softball. Liam is in charge of this, and has put lots of information about it here. Dates in the calendar as you’d expect.
- Socialising! Oh yes, we still hang out in the winter! Jazz organises weekly pub visits on Wednesdays; this year we are picking a new pub out of a hat each week, so keep your eye on the calendar to know where we’ll be. We’re also finding other ways to pass the time, from Middle Farm Apple Festival to… anything you can suggest, so get in touch! (Cost: mine’s a cider).
