• Practices

  After April the Summer season starts: we play weekly on Wednesdays from 6pm until the light fades, at Preston Park .

  April practices are open to everybody. New players, old-timers, people looking for a new sport... come along!

  From May onwards, not all practices will be open to all players so let us know to make sure you come to the right one:

  • 1st Wednesday: rookie practice: Focused on new players. I've you're new to the Beachcombers and haven't played much softball before, come along to one of these! If you're not sure whether this is the practice for you, just ask.
  • 2nd/4th Wednesday: club practice: These are for all club members who are past the "rookie" stage (i.e. they are comfortable enough with the basics of the game, catching and throwing that they can play safely unaided). If you are not yet at this level, come to one of our rookie practices on the first Wednesday of every month! If in doubt please ask.
  • 3rd Wednesday: Beachcomber game: On the third Wednesday of the month we'll have a Beachcomber Vs Beachcomber game. This is to allow both new and experienced players to enjoy a competative game of softball in fun enviroment where they can receive some coaching tips at the same time. New players who have been to a Rookie Practice and feel comfortable with the basics and can play safely unaided are welcome to play. If you're not sure just ask.
  • There will also be roughly fortnightly Team practices, for players who have committed to be part of our competitive Team.
• Weekend tournaments 1- or 2-day tournaments all over the South of England. We need to take the right amount of players and arrange transport, so you must let us know if you want to play.
• Non-tournament games As well as tournaments, we're going to take every chance we can to organise games here and there: between teams within the club, against teams nearby (Redhill League, Solent League)... whatever comes up.
• Other events Other events we get together for. Anything other than playing, really: eating, drinking, learning about the game... We'll post them as we organise them!
